21 And they compelled a passerby, Simon of Cyrene, who was coming in from the country, the father of Alexander and Rufus, to carry his cross. 22 And they brought him to the place called Golgotha (which means Place of a Skull). 23 And they offered him wine mixed with myrrh, but he did not take it. 24 And they crucified him and divided his garments among them, casting lots for them, to decide what each should take. 25 And it was the third hour when they crucified him. 26 And the inscription of the charge against him read, “The King of the Jews.” ESV
Mark 15:21-26 What was the greatest act of hatred/evil while also being the greatest act of mercy/love? God spoke of this day in Genesis 3:15 & it is pictured in part as Abraham raises a knife over his son Isaac on an alter. In that instance God provided a sacrifice & this time God is providing the Perfect Passover Lamb in His Son Jesus. Mankind is killing the only man who knew no sin in what is considered the cruelest execution dreamed up. It is described in Isaiah 53. This was God’s plan to redeem sinful men/women to Himself & Jesus went willingly-obediently-lovingly that we would be justified & made righteous. Jesus took all the sin & if we will repent-believe-follow Jesus we are credited with His righteousness! The old is gone the new has come! Have you been made new?
