15 And as soon as it was morning, the chief priests held a consultation with the elders and scribes and the whole council. And they bound Jesus and led him away and delivered him over to Pilate. 2 And Pilate asked him, “Are you the King of the Jews?” And he answered him, “You have said so.” 3 And the chief priests accused him of many things. 4 And Pilate again asked him, “Have you no answer to make? See how many charges they bring against you.” 5 But Jesus made no further answer, so that Pilate was amazed. ESV
Mark 15:1-5 Would you speak out if you were falsely accused? Honestly we tend to speak out even when we are accurately accused. Jesus finishes first trial with the Jews & is dragged over to Pilate & the Romans. The Jews were allowed certain freedom to live under Jewish law but they could not exact corporal punishment. It is Jesus silence in putting up no defense that we are reminded that He gave up His life willingly. Pilate asks Jesus: Are you the King of the Jews? Jesus one reply was: you have said so! The Jews went on to accuse Him of many things & Pilate was amazed at Jesus silence. This perfect sacrificial Passover Lamb went willingly & once for all. The righteous-Jesus-for the unrighteous -mankind-that He might bring us to God! Amazing Grace!
